About Me

With over 25 years of experience across the voluntary sector, the NHS, and private practice, including both personal therapy and clinical supervision, I have had the privilege of working alongside a wide range of individuals. Each person has contributed to my understanding in profound ways. Through their lived experiences, I have gained deep insight into the realities of mental health difficulties: the internal narratives, belief systems, and coping strategies that can sustain destructive patterns over time. These patterns often erode multiple areas of life, leaving individuals feeling depleted, fragile, and, at times, without the strength or hope to continue.

In response to this, I have developed and delivered group workshops grounded in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for foster carers, teachers, parents, and young people. These workshops are designed to help individuals understand themselves more fully within their relationships and environments. Participants often report increased self-awareness, greater confidence, and an enhanced ability to make meaningful, positive changes both personally and professionally. This work supports the development of emotional resilience, healthier decision-making, and a stronger sense of agency.

Alongside this, I facilitate a weekly holistic self-awareness group, where individuals are introduced to mindfulness and meditation practices. These approaches encourage a shift in perspective, enabling people to observe life’s challenges with greater clarity and distance. Through mindfulness, individuals can begin to navigate complex emotional experiences with increased steadiness, responding more constructively to everyday difficulties. Over time, this process supports the release of unhelpful patterns and fosters a more grounded, present-focused way of living, free from the distortions of past experiences.

My approach is rooted in a humanistic philosophy. While I do not adhere to a specific religious framework, I hold a strong belief in the innate capacity for growth, resilience, and reconnection within each individual. Life’s challenges and adversities, while often painful, can also serve as catalysts for transformation. I believe that we all possess the ability to reconnect with parts of ourselves that may have felt lost, neglected, or disconnected.

Beyond my formal qualifications, my effectiveness as a practitioner has been deeply shaped by my own personal therapeutic journey. I came to understand that to support others truly, I needed to explore and make sense of my own experiences of attachment, abandonment, rejection, and co-dependency. This process was not easy; at times it felt overwhelming and unrelenting, as though I was navigating through an endless and heavy terrain. There were moments when continuing felt almost impossible. However, through perseverance, I was able to move through those challenges.

As a result, I now bring not only professional knowledge but also lived experience into my work. This allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level, offering both empathy and practical tools to support them through their own journeys. I understand the courage it takes to engage in this process, and I hold a genuine belief that change, healing, and growth are possible even in the most difficult of circumstances.
